60th Anniversary Celebrationsby July 5, 2016
26 June 2016 – A day of celebration of The Lord’s goodness for the last 60 years in Serangoon Gardens! Instead of an expensive dinner at some posh hotel ballroom we held the event in our own parish hall which was readied only about a week before the event – complete with a new airconditioning system, white-washed walls, gleaming glass windows and doors and chemically cleaned floors.
The morning started with our Sunday worship service with Ven Wong Tak Meng delivering the sermon (listen to his message under “Recordings” at the top of the front page of our website) and who was also our Guest of Honour at our luncheon held immediately after the service. It was a day of joy indeed with a blessing draw, quiz contest, musice entertainment by our talented young adult, dance by our young lasses as well as our little more senior ladies. Food was glorious with Chinese, Indian and local hawker fare.
When it all ended, all hands came on deck – every able bodied person stayed behind to clean up. It happened all so swiftly – before you could say Amen! – everything was cleared and all tables and chairs put back in their proper positions.
Indeed a day to remember!
